How dangerous is a trip to Europe?

Europe (MNN) — Manchester. London. Paris. Berlin. Brussels.

These are only a few of the places that have suffered terrorist attacks in the past year. With so many assaults, it’s easy to see why some people have safety concerns about Europe. Yet, according to Tasos Ioannidis of AMG International, Europe may not be as dangerous as it seems.

”If you take reasonable precautions, you are fine,” he explains. Ioannidis said there’s a higher chance of suffering a dog bite “than having a run-in with a terrorist,” and most American cities are actually far more dangerous.

Those words are especially poignant in the wake of a recent ruling against President’s Trump’s revised immigration protocols. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals determined that vetting procedures were not as inadequate as the plan claimed. The plan would have temporarily blocked any refugees as well as citizens of six countries from entering the United States.

But it’s not just the statistics that provide safety, Ioannidis said. “Nothing happens without God allowing it, so we trust His sovereignty and we obey His call.”

And that calling is more accessible than ever. “We are called to reach people in His name, and He has literally brought the nations to us. It’s an unprecedented opportunity.”

Volunteers are already working alongside refugees to show them the love of Christ and teach them about His truth. AMG trips range from two weeks to one month and are designed to help workers and refugees alike experience His love. “We are able to respond and we are seeing lives transformed,” said Ioannidis.

Team members will dip their hands into several areas, whether they are spending time in fellowship with refugees, helping with language training and teaching, or distributing practical supplies to hurting people. No matter the ministry, they will be exposing displaced people to the mercy of Christ in a tangible way.

Want to help? Ioannidis said it’s not just about praying; it’s about listening for a response. “I would encourage anybody who is considering a mission trip, because they feel the Lord is calling them to do that, not to hesitate for a moment. If God is calling you, you should follow and go. God is going to use you and you are going to make a difference in people’s lives.

“We don’t want to let this unique opportunity slip by.”
